From Lufthansa to Air New Zealand: ZIM seats in the cabins of the world's premium airlines

Immenstaad, September 25, 2025 – Seats from ZIM Aircraft Seating Group fly today in the premium cabins of leading international airlines. A review of customer development over the past five years shows how the company has evolved from a European specialist into a globally sought-after seat manufacturer.

Lufthansa Group and SWISS

The starting point is Lufthansa Group. The ZP610 flies on the Boeing 747-8 and the Airbus A330. Going forward, the seat will follow on the Boeing 777-9, the Airbus A350 and the Boeing 787. In 2022, SWISS was the first airline in the group to operate the seat in scheduled service.

Air New Zealand

Air New Zealand has been operating the ZP610 since 2025 in the new cabin concept of its Boeing 787-9 “Dreamliner” fleet. The retrofit program runs across the entire fleet until the end of 2026. The partnership has since been further expanded.

Singapore Airlines

Singapore Airlines is a long-standing reference: since 2015, ZIM seats have been flying in the Premium Economy of the Airbus A380 and Boeing 777-300ER. The cabin design is by JPA Design. For an independent seat manufacturer, the long-term collaboration with an airline regarded internationally as the benchmark for cabin quality is a key proof of trust.

Premium Economy as a growth segment

The common denominator of these programs is the segment. Premium Economy is growing faster on long-haul than any other class and generates the highest revenue per square meter of cabin for airlines. This is exactly where ZIM has consistently focused its product development.

Statement by Raffael Rogg, Group CEO

“That Lufthansa, SWISS, Air New Zealand and Singapore Airlines have placed their trust in us over many years is not something you win once and then own. We are grateful to our customers for that,” says Raffael Rogg. “And we intend to extend this list: our ambition is to be a serious option in every long-haul Premium Economy cabin.”
