Immenstaad, December 10, 2021 – ZIM Aircraft Seating GmbH was host partner of the RedCabin Aircraft Cabin Innovation Summit, held from December 6 to 8, 2021 at the Bodenseeforum in Konstanz. The event was one of the first major in-person gatherings of the cabin interiors industry since the pandemic.
The industry meets again on Lake Constance
Over three days, representatives of airlines, airframers, cabin suppliers, materials specialists and universities discussed the future of the cabin interior. Participants included Delta Air Lines, Boeing, Safran Cabin, Collins Aerospace, Diehl Aviation, Sekisui Kydex and TU Delft, among others. After two years of digital formats, the face-to-face exchange was itself one of the summit's outcomes.
Key topics: sustainability, materials, cabin architecture
The central question was how sustainability targets, new materials and changing cabin architectures can be combined into a viable product. Topics discussed included lightweight design as a direct lever on fuel burn and emissions, recyclable and reusable materials, modular construction for longer product life cycles, and the question of how certification processes can keep pace with the speed of innovation.
The supporting program deliberately relied on interactive formats: in working groups, participants jointly tackled specific questions, complemented by a visit to the Dornier Museum in Friedrichshafen.
Positioning as a driver of innovation
For ZIM, the host role meant more than visibility. At a time when the industry was still dealing with the consequences of the pandemic, the company deliberately created a platform for innovation topics and thereby positioned itself as a driver of the industry's recovery.
