Air New Zealand selects the ZP610 for its new long-haul cabin concept

Immenstaad, July 1, 2022 – Air New Zealand has chosen the ZP610 from ZIM Aircraft Seating GmbH for its Premium Economy. The seat is part of the new cabin concept with seven seating and sleeping options that the airline plans to introduce on its Boeing 787-9 “Dreamliner” fleet from 2024. The seat is configured at a 41-inch pitch.

A cabin concept with seven seating and sleeping options
Air New Zealand will in future differentiate its long-haul offering far more finely than before. The new concept comprises seven seating and sleeping options within a three-class cabin, from Economy through to the premium cabins. Premium Economy plays a key role: it is intended to give passengers a tangible step up in comfort over Economy without reducing the airline's cabin capacity.

Privacy without additional cabin space
That is exactly what the ZP610 is engineered for. The fixed backrest shell clearly delineates each passenger's personal space: recline takes place within the passenger's own shell and does not affect the row behind. Airlines thereby gain privacy and perceived comfort without increasing seat pitch. On a long-haul fleet, that has a direct impact on economics.

First reference in the Asia-Pacific region
With Air New Zealand, ZIM wins an airline internationally known for its cabin products and extends its customer base beyond Europe into the Asia-Pacific region. The collaboration is the starting point of a partnership that will be further expanded in the years that follow.
