ZIM acquires HAECO Cabin Solutions and becomes a global seat manufacturer

Immenstaad, October 5, 2023 – ZIM Aircraft Seating GmbH has acquired HAECO Cabin Solutions from the HAECO Group. The combination creates the world's fourth-largest aircraft seat manufacturer in the Economy and Premium Economy segment. The combined group will operate as ZIM Aircraft Seating Group. The majority owner since February 2020 is the AURELIUS Group.

From European specialist to global supplier

The acquisition fundamentally changes the scale of the company. With the Vector, Vector Premium and Eclipse seat lines, a complete Economy portfolio is added. For the first time, ZIM can serve airlines across several cabin classes from a single source. For airlines and airframers, this means one point of contact for the entire cabin instead of several.

Greensboro: FAA ODA and in-house test facility

A central element of the transaction is the Greensboro, North Carolina site. It holds an FAA Organization Designation Authorization (ODA) and has a fully equipped test facility. Both significantly accelerate certification and product development: tests and compliance demonstrations can be run in-house without waiting for external capacity. In cabin programs, certification lead time is regularly the critical path.

One identity, two continents

Following closing, the combined group presents itself externally as ZIM Aircraft Seating Group, while the companies remain legally independent. The group is thus present in Europe and North America with its own engineering and production capabilities.
