Immenstaad, April 12, 2022 – ZIM Aircraft Seating GmbH has completed the consolidation of its sites. Engineering, administration and production are now located exclusively on Lake Constance: manufacturing is based in Markdorf, administration and engineering in Immenstaad. The distance between the two sites is six kilometers.
Short distances between design and manufacturing
The physical proximity of design and manufacturing is a structural advantage in seat development. Design changes can be checked immediately on the shop floor, prototypes built at short notice and feedback from series production fed straight back into engineering. The result is shorter distances, faster iterations and lower organizational complexity. That counts especially in programs with tight certification deadlines.
A clear structure for the ramp-up
The consolidation coincides with the ramp-up of ZP610 series production. All core processes (engineering, certification management, procurement, manufacturing and quality assurance) are now located at two immediately adjacent sites and under a single line of responsibility. The Schwerin-Brüsewitz service site was closed as part of the consolidation. Repair and maintenance have since been based on Lake Constance.
